Tapping Script to Release Disappointment With Your Body

The Paradox: the more you love and accept your body as it is now, the more you can make the changes to support it.

I am a result of the diet culture as are many women.  We equate thin with healthy and attractive. Although I was thin for a majority of my life, I never felt I was thin enough. Looking good drove my need for exercise rather than feeling healthy.  I know I am not alone. 

Then I got really sick, bed-ridden, scorching pain, heavy fatigue which lasted for years.  After years of antibiotics and pain medication, I had to find another way. So I embarked on a healing journey that continues to this day.  I changed the way I ate, I loaded up on supplements to help heal the extreme adrenal fatigue. I embarked into the world of energy and spiritual healing.  

I began to get mobility and a semblance of a life back.  Yet through it all and to this day, I still struggle with varying issues in my body.  A few years ago I gained weight all around my midsection and hips. I HATED IT. I JUDGED MY BODY WITH DISDAIN AND CRITICISM, not just for the weight gain, but for lack of energy, constant pain, and having to give up gluten and dairy. 

GUESS WHAT?  NOTHING CHANGED. THE MORE I HATED MY BODY WITH ITS PAIN, FATIGUE AND EXTRA WEIGHT, THE LESS THINGS SHIFTED IN MY BODY. 

About a year ago, I realized that I had done this to myself.  I have put my body through so much through my 55 years. I have made demands on it.  I pushed it when it needed rest. I filled it with foods that were hurting it. I made it endure toxic environments.  I treated it badly. While I should have been allowing it to heal, I pushed it even more. I criticized it constantly.  INSTEAD OF BEING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MY BODY, I WAS AT WAR WITH IT. 

One morning, I looked in the mirror for the first time and was filled with compassion and gratitude for my body.  It has put up with so much from me and I began to look at with more kindness. 

I started tapping using EFT to address the real insults and injuries I felt towards my body which helped reach a level of acceptance, which allowed me to make more loving choices. Rather than resenting letting go of gluten, I saw it as an act of love and appreciation for my body so that I could feel better.  I began a gentle exercise program and slowly and steadily increased what I was able to do. I began to lose the belly fat that made me feel so uncomfortable in my body. Most importantly I have a new level of respect for my body. We are partners and I listen to what it needs so that we can feel our best. 

Because tapping has helped me and so many others,I wanted to share a script to help you move beyond disappointment.  The more people who love themselves offers healing for the world. It all starts from within, not from outside ourselves.  You cannot make changes that you are not ready to make and beating yourself does not help anyone. 

I think the biggest issue we all face is that we feel disappointed and let down by our bodies.  Whether you disappointment stems from weight gain, lack of weight loss, illness, disease or accident tapping on your real feelings will help to lessen the stress load in your body and find freedom to make changes to support you from a loving rather than critical place. You may just decide that you are perfect the way you are and find peace in that. 

So, let’s start tapping on disappointment,  and move to love and acceptance for a healthier and happier body. 

Preparing to Tap on Disappointment With Your Body

  1. Make a list of things, people or experiences that have left you feeling disappointed with your body. 

  2. Choose one to work with for this session. It is best to work on one area of disappointment at a time. Specific is better than general for best results. 

  3. Write down the answers to the following questions.  You will use them in the tapping session.

  4. Why do you feel disappointed with your body?

  5. How has your body let you down?

  6. Why do you hate your body?

  7. What would you like from your body?

  8. What will make you love your body?

  9. What can you do differently to show your body some love?

  10. Tune into your body and your thoughts.  


Say the statement, “I feel disappointed because _____________.  How true does this feel on a scale of 1 - 10, with 1 being not at all, and 10 being very true.  Write the number down. 

Rate you SUD - subjective unit of distress.  How intense do you feel this? Rate it from 0 - 10.  The higher the intensity of the feeling, the higher the number.  Write the number down.

Where do you feel this disappointment in your body?  What does it feel like? Write it down.

What color is your disappointment?  Write it down.

What shape is your disappointment?  Write it down.


Now follow the script and insert your specific answers where there are blanks. Always feel free to use your own wording any time while tapping. You can replace the words in the script with your own, referring back to what you wrote down.  Once you start tapping, you many have words come out of seemingly nowhere. Go with it. This is your inner guidance revealing answers and guidance for your tapping.

Before you begin lets’ review the tapping points.

KC =  Karate Chop.  Take the fingertips of one hand and tap on the side of the palm of your baby finger.

TH = Top of the Head.  Using one or both hands, tap the top of your head gently with your fingertips.

EB = Eyebrow Point. Using one or both hands, tap gently with your fingertips  on either side of the bridge of your nose where your eyebrows end. 

SE = Side of Eye.  Using one or both hands, tap gently with your fingertips  on the side of your eye.

UE - Under the Eye.  Using one or both hands, tap gently with your fingertips underneath your eye at the center. 

UN = Under the nose.  Using either hand, tap gently with your fingertips in the space under your nose and above your lip.

CH = Chin.  Using either hand, tap gently with your fingertips in the space under the lips.

CB = Collar Bone.  Using one or both hands, tap gently with your fingertips under your collar bone in the soft space beneath. 

UA = Under the Arm.   Using one or both hands, tap gently with your fingertips underneath your armpit about where a woman’s bra sits.

STOP.   TAKE A FEW DEEP BREATHS.  CHECK-IN.

Tune into your body and your thoughts.  

Say the statement, “I feel disappointed because _____________.  How true does this feel on a scale of 1 - 10, with 1 being not at all, and 10 being very true.    Write that number down

Rate you SUD - subjective unit of distress.  How intense do you feel this? Rate it from 0 - 10.  Has the the intensity lessened? What’s the intensity level now? Write that number down.  

Where do you feel this disappointment in your body?  What does it feel like? Has that changed, lessened, increased, shifted, moved?

What color is your disappointment?  Has that changed, lessened, increased, shifted, moved?

What shape is your disappointment?  Has that changed, lessened, increased, shifted, moved?


Hopefully you are feeling peaceful and your intensity level is less than 1.  If you still feel any reactions, doubts, thoughts, feelings with the disappointment, I suggest that you make notes, check in and do another round of tapping. Tap until you no longer feel disappointment about this issue and feel at peace.
